Linda Villarosa is a journalist, author, editor, novelist, college professor and entrepreneur. She runs the journalism program at the City College of New York in Harlem and teaches writing and media studies.For several years, she edited the health pages of the New York Times, working on coverage for Science Times and for the newspaper at large. She later spent six years as a contributing NewYork Times reporter. The executive editor of Essence Magazine—two different times–she wroteor edited a number of award-winning articles.
Alicia Villarosa is a corporate runaway and lifelong athlete with over 30 years of experience in the exercise industry. She started teaching fitness in college and kept it as her side gig while working in sports marketing and public relations for Du Pont. She’s also an experienced writer, regularly contributing to several online publications and specialize in health, fitness, nutrition and active/adventure travel.
Together with their mother Clara, the pair recently launched Villarosa Media, a bookpublishing company and more. Their first book, The Wind Is Spirit, a bio/anthology of Audre Lorde, will come out in 2015.
