The Dream, Girl World Premiere
By now, you probably know that we dream big. So big, in fact, that we booked a 600-person theatre in New York City for the world premiere of Dream, Girl.
And it sold out!
On Thursday, June 9, we officially premiered the film to the world, and it was met with just as much love and appreciation as we could have hoped. Six hundred people gathered together to celebrate our journey and the power of all female entrepreneurs was the most incredible energy in which to launch this next stage of Dream, Girl.
The evening started with a red carpet, where each guest posed for their photo-op. Guests included YouTuber and activist Ingrid Nilson, feminist poet Rupi Kaur, the amazing female entrepreneurs featured in the film, and so many of our wonderful Kickstarter backers. We’re so thankful to have had the support of thousands of people around the world from the start of this journey, and to have so many of those supporters in the room while we launched the film was an incredible full-circle moment.
After the red carpet, we all headed inside, grabbed a bag of popcorn and settled into the Paris Theatre’s plush, purple seats. The lights dimmed, the music started, and we took in the moment.
The reactions to the film were everything we could have asked for and more: laughter, tears, a few audible YES’s at key moments, and a standing ovation while the credits rolled. We then called the women featured in the film to the stage, and each of them was met with their own round of wild applause.
Dream, Girl founders Komal and Erin were joined onstage by Valentina Zarya, an editor from Forbes, who moderated a panel discussion about all things women in entrepreneurship and the extraordinary Dream, Girl trajectory. Erin and Komal talked frankly about their struggles and triumphs as first-time filmmakers and startup co-founders.
The night ended on the rooftop of the Hotel on Rivington, filled with drinks, dancing, and soaking up all the love and powerful energy we could.
